Can you say EXCITING?
Well,this is so exciting
and great to have had the opportunity to be a part of the
“Blog Hoppin’ Bash” at “Club Anya”
If I were any more excited.........
someone would have to tie me to my chair. LOL
So0oooo....Without Further Adu....
My entry for this special event!
and another picture showing the inside of the card.
I wanted to create a “gift” set that would be a perfect gift for someone who loves to read. I used Fairy Eva for the candle with mini Fairy Eva’s from the “Ever After” set, and a card that served two purposes, and yet was something I had never done before. With that in mind, I created this one with an adorable Anya image reading a book, and the card would include a detachable bookmark, and what better way to decorate a bookmark than to use this adorable Anya reading? I incorporated my bookmark into the design of the card, but yet it’s removable. Under the bookmark, the card is still decorated, so that with or without the bookmark, the card still has a decent layout.
Since the bookmark is removable, it is attached by inserting
the back of it into a thin slice in the background paper.
Once you take the bookmark out and wish to use it,
there are instructions inside it, saying to glue it down,
so that it won’t open up anymore.
In order to create Ian reading, I used “Happy Chef Ian” and trimmed his arms off, I then stamped another reading Anya and cut out just her book and hands. Ian now is reading the same book as Anya, and look, he’s got her hands too!
All of the papers that I used are coordinating papers from the Raspberry Tart collection from Stampin’ Up. They are just GORGEOUS papers to work with,
and I absolutely LOVE the color combination of them.
I have also used Stampin’ Up “Creamy Caramel” ink
and sponged it on the white cardstock to give it that “aged” look.
The sentiments on the pull out bookmark are both from “The Greeting Farm”. One from the “Happy Chef” set, and the other from the “Cake Topper” set. The “Happy Birthday sentiment is also from the “Happy Chef” set. The sentiment on the candle is from TGF Ever after set. All other sentiments were computer generated. I stuck with the oval theme for the sentiments on the outside of the card, using my Stampin’ Up oval punches, and then my Nesties for the ovals behind Ian.
On the inside I used my Nesties for the poem and for the background behind the little book, which I found as clip art online. It was originally a blank book, but I carefully used my copic liner pens to make it appear as though there were words in the book. Who reads a blank book anyway? LOL
I have used pages from a REAL book to add character to my card. I hated to tear out pages from a book, and at first I was looking through some of my books trying to decide if I could part with one of them for paper craft purposes. I decided against it. NO WAY was I parting with any of my books, even if I have read them a few times already. I then went to my sons’ bedroom and looked on his bookshelf. Surely there must be a book that he is NOT interested in anymore. Well it was a choice of Junie B. Jones books, which he has several of, or this one lonely book called “Tuck Everlasting” I looked inside, and sure enough, no pictures, and the text looked just like a regular book. He would never miss this book. Not to mention he’s a 14 year old boy, what 14 year old boy is interested in “Tuck Everlasting”? All in all, I am very pleased with the outcome of this card.
I absolutely LOVE everything about it.
I’m sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to give a good explanation about all the details. I hope you like it.
