Birthday Wishes

Howdy!!!  Can you believe we are officially half way through the year???  It doesn't even seem possible, does it?
Today, we have a very easy challenge over on the Elisabeth Bells World Challenge Blog.
If you have ANY Stamp or Digi that is designed by Elisabeth Bell, then why not join us?
The theme is "Anything Goes" it just doesn't get more simple than that.

I have created a card using "Zoe Butterfly" which was a freebie from Elisabeth Bell's EBook. She's adorable, and perfect for the "Birthday Wishes" that I am giving to my niece.

I've used Copics for coloring this sweet girl.  If interested, the colors used are listed below.  But obviously pretty basic colors.
To make the chevron pattern, I used a Stampin' Up paper punch for making photo corners.  Then for the red polka dot paper, another Stampin' Up paper punch punching out small whit circles.  There is NOT ONE SINGLE designer paper on this card.  It was made from 3 basic solid color pieces of cardstock, in Red/Black/White.
The sentiment was digitally created by me as well.

The story behind this "funky, yet stylish" design, is that my niece who is turning 6, wanted a "Big Hero 6" themed birthday party.  Of course her mom got her a "Baymax" dress, and the skirt of the dress is this black and white chevron pattern as well as the red/white polkadot pattern.  So I couldn't resist creating a card to go along with the theme.

But that's not all I did.

I created her digital invitation,

and then..... a surprise for her to match her birthday party dress
I thought I would try making some fun flipflops for her.
SUCCESS!!!
I think she's going to love them.

I can not tell you how much I've done with these patterns lately...  Including altering the birthday girls little sisters dress, and making her a more basic pair of flipflops as well.  Lets just say I have been up to my eyeballs in polka dots and chevron designs.

And to think that ALL OF THIS came from me doing a few alterations on a $10 Minnie Mouse outfit, turning it into a dress that my daughter would wear to her cousins birthday party.

So the original project was removing the cheesy polyester skirting from this outfit and adding a layered skirt... as well as dressing up the tutu with some ribbon trim, and then topping it off with a polka dot bow.

Now that I've written a book here, I will stop....  and to think, you only came here to see a cute birthday card.  ha ha

It will be a while before I want to do anything with chevron or polka dots again.  LOL

Challenge I'm entering:

And as promised... a short list of the Copic Colors that I used:
Skin and Hair - E00, E25, E33, E50
Clothing - R29 R35, R39, W3, W5, W7, W9

Thanks so much for sticking with me through this extremely long post...
As you can see, I've been quite busy lately.
